A concussion is one of the most common conditions arising from severe head injury and is not always evident after trauma. The full effects of a concussion may only be noticed days, weeks or month after the incident and if they persist for a long period of time, it is known as post concussion syndrome. A concussion is any trauma to the brain resulting in impairment of normal brain functions, either short or long term. Fainting or a ‘black out’ meaning a loss of consciousness does not always occur in a concussion and for this reason many head trauma patients ignore the possibility of a concussion and do not seek medical investigation or treatment after their injury.

It is often difficult not to scratch or interfere with an itchy anus and while this may be an embarrassing condition to suffer with, it is usually harmless. The anus is thin an sensitive area of the body and scratching may lead to more itching and the cycle continues unless appropriate treatment is administered. In most cases, a nagging bum itch can be so uncomfortable, that a person may attempt to enter the anus with a finger and thereby irritate the rectum.

Pruritis is the medical term for itching and is one of the most common and uncomfortable symptoms experienced by all age groups. In most cases, short term itching may not be serious unlike other symptoms like pain but a persistent itchy skin should always be investigated for more serious causes.
Itch may be triggered by a number of factors, from light touch to certain textiles and fabrics , after eating specific foods or using certain drugs. Certain systemic disorders, not related to the skin, may also cause itching. Occasionally itch may occur for no known reason (idiopathic pruritis).
